5 reasons to join Coastway

radio

Coastway Hospital Radio is Brighton’s very own hospital radio station. Based in Kemp Town, Coastway hosts a great opportunity for presenting, producing and being involved with the station.

That’s why we’ve come up with 5 reasons to join Coastway.

1.

Be a radio presenter

The first reason is of course the best reason. Have you ever wanted to host your own radio show? Well now is the time. Coastway boasts a huge variety of shows from a mixture of presenters. From Rosemary’s Book Corner, to Kerion’s Sporting Chance. With the ladies at Wednesday Night Live, to Richard’s Grey Matters.

You can play whatever music you like, chat about any topic of interest and feel the buzz when you get behind the microphone! The freedom is endless and it’s the most fun you’ll have!

2.

Coastway people

Coastway is built up of a grand mix of people, from all backgrounds. Our hosts consist of university graduates with experience in student radio, to first time presenters. Our oldest member is over 90 years old and our longest running member has been presenting for 20 years – and they’re still going!

We welcome everybody in Coastway, there’s no age limit or need for experience. We’ll give you full training on using the equipment, the software and give you tips on presenting skills.
We’re a sociable bunch and have been known to have AGM meetings outside with homemade chilli, or have been seen hosting our own quiz nights at local pubs.

3.

Coastway is a charity

We broadcast first and foremost to the patients in the Royal Sussex County Hospital and they are our most important listeners. If you or a loved one have stayed in hospital you know how much a nice song, or a funny news story cheers you up.

Our primary aim is to keep patients company during their stay in hospital and we strive to fulfil this mission. We also publish yearly Smile magazines which we hand out to patients and visitors throughout the hospital and further into the community. Our magazine features articles, puzzles and quizzes for people to enjoy in the wards. We care about our patients’ wellbeing and we provide the best entertainment for them.

4.

Fundraising

Due to Coastway being a registered charity we need to keep raising our funds in order to continue running. Therefore, we encourage all of our members to take part in fundraising and we put the FUN in fundraising.

From our regular quiz nights, to shaking buckets at the circus. We love taking part in Brighton based events and we think you should join us!

5.

Professional studios

We have 2 fantastically equipped studios and a state of the art playout system. With an added green room for any time away from the microphone, Coastway’s studio spaces are perfect. We are able to broadcast outside, as well as online so your friends and family at home can listen too.

So, if you’d like to join Coastway then we want you! Please get in touch with us – send us an email: enquiries@coastway.org.uk
