Here you will be able to find all the information you need about Brighton’s Coastway Hospital Radio – whether you are a patient, a relative, or one of the generous donors on whom we rely for our finances.

Coastway Hospital Radio, now celebrating over twenty years of broadcasting, is run entirely by volunteers who all have a passion for providing the highest quality programming for the patients at the Royal Sussex County Hospital and Sussex Eye Hospital.

Our schedule is probably more varied than any other hospital radio station, with everything from classical to world music, rock, soul and jazz. We also have presenters playing the best of yesterday and today; and talk shows that combine chat with up to date information about the week’s news, ecology issues, book reviews, sport, retrospectives, quizzes and fun.

We would like to think there is something for everyone at Coastway. Whatever your musical tastes or interests, there is bound to be a programme to interest you.

And remember the radio is FREE to listen to for patients through the Hospedia Channel 6 console.

If you’re in hospital, just call *800 from the console for a dedication or for a request to be played, or see one of our ward visitors, and we will be glad to play something for especially for you.

As a charity, Coastway has to rely on donations and fundraising activities to purchase and maintain equipment and keep the station broadcasting. Although members are charged a modest membership fee, this is insufficient by itself. We offer a whole range of ways in which individuals or companies can support our work. We have a mobile studio that can be hired by organisations to play music in exchange for a donation to the charity. We also have a sponsorship scheme, where a company can pay a small fee to sponsor a particular show and have their name mentioned every time that show is broadcast.
