Charlie Plunkett

In my show Charlie’s World I chat about the joyful moments in life including my favourite topics; weddings and babies. Both of which I have written about in my books The True Diary of a Bride-to-be and The True Diary of a Mum-to-be. (You can find out more about my work as an author and more about the books by clicking here). Back to the show, and I play lots of feel good music and love hearing your stories.

What made you want to join Coastway – Hospital Radio for Brighton?

Coastway is an amazing radio station to be a presenter on with a real community feel which appeals to me.

What do you like best about Coastway?

I love the team spirit and diversity all of the presenters bring to their shows.

How did you get into presenting?

I had been interviewed a couple of times about my books on BBC Radio Sussex and was invited to review the local papers on Sarah Gorrell’s show and really enjoyed myself. So when the opportunity arose to join Coastway I jumped at the chance.

Who/what are your biggest influences?

My biggest influences are my husband and son. I also admire my parents and have learnt so much from them.

What have been your biggest achievements?

My biggest achievements have been having a successful and happy career as a professional dancer, becoming a Mum and writing my books.

Name a key tune that you love or inspired you?

My favourite song is This Kiss by Faith Hill. I first heard it in Vegas whilst watching the dancing fountains at the Bellagio Hall.

What do you do when you are not broadcasting?

When I’m not On-Air I am at home with my little boy Cole who is 3. I teach ballet and jazz dance to adults in the evenings and when I get a spare moment I love to write and I am currently finishing The True Diary of Baby’s First Year.
