Christian Brazier
Brazier’s Bit Of This is a 2 hour show packed with goodness. We have: the world famous biscuit review with resident biscuit fanatic Steve Crunch, a news quiz, news from the world of science, Brighton and Hove football club updates, a variety of great music ranging from rock to classical, old to modern.
Music wise the first hour is an upbeat affair and then we wind down to the bed time trio which is there to help you doze off in the last 15 minutes of the show.
We also have guests from the local community and have so far had Police Community Support Officers and members of the Community Safety Team, all of whom do great work within the local area.
What made you want to join Coastway Hospital Radio For Brighton?
Volunteering for Coastway is rewarding in that you get the opportunity to make a difference to someone’s day. Having had a recent stay in hospital I know that it can be a boring affair, so any chance to entertain patients with a good show is a privilege.
What do you like best about Coastway?
I love the flexibility that Coastway gives you. You can play any track you think the audience might like and don’t have to stick to rigid playlists. You can pretty much design your own show which is a lot of fun to do.
How did you get into presenting?
I was in hospital in London in April 2011 and thought that presenting a show might be a nice thing to do when I get out, so I did!
Who/what are your biggest influence(s)?
Steve Crunch our biscuit reviewer. The man has no end to his talents.
What have been your biggest achievements?
I was pretty chuffed with completing the Brighton Marathon 2011 in a time of 3 hrs 36 mins and 36 secs.
Name a key tune that you love or inspired you.
There are so many. Claude Debussy’s Clair De Lune is a beautiful piece of piano music and is a regular feature in the bed time trio at the end of the show. Any of Damon Albarn’s songs as he is a fantastic songwriter aswell as Paul Weller.
What do you do when you are not broadcasting?
I work for the Family Intervention Project for Brighton and Hove City Council. We work with families that have multiple complex needs and children on a child protection plan. We try to support the family in preventing their children from going into care. Challenging and rewarding work. I also play football for a couple of teams and write music on my piano. Keeps me out of mischief.
