Lu Bristow
How would you describe your programme?
The Vocademy show is fun filled from beginning to end. With guests coming in every week from our Vocademy singing school (usually aged between 7-18) singing live, playing games and giving their young, fresh points of view on what is going on in the world of today – and no, these youngsters do not hold back either! Total Mayhem from beginning to end, just the way we like it!
How did you get into presenting?
Coastway is the first radio show I have ever presented and I must say it is total fun. From having different kids on every week I am never too sure what to expect and if I don’t then our listeners definitely don’t! I have had quite a bit of experience as a live presenter though at events/gigs which is great fun too, but very different from radio.
Who/what are your biggest influence(s)?
My Mum :0). All kinds of music. My very good friend Damo.
I think it is really important to stay driven and everything you do, do to the best of your ability – Always try new things, even things that you are afraid of.
What have been your biggest achievements?
I would say setting up Vocademy has been one of my biggest achievements. It can always do better but I love the fact that I have created something that lots of our students are proud to be a part of.
Name a particular piece of music that you love
Oh my, that is completely impossible for me to answer!!! It would depend on what day/time of day and what mood I’m in and what I am doing at the time. Maybe I am fickle but I just generally love all music (good music though – ha ha!!).
What do you do when you are not broadcasting?
Work work work! Lots of teaching (singing), making sure my tutors, staff and students are all cool. Looking for new fun opportunities for them. Lots of talking and being scatty, seeing my fab friends and having lots of fun!
