Rosie Boxer

Rosie’s Box o’Delights
How would you describe your programme?
An eclectic mix of music requested by patients – topped and tailed by tracks inspired by ‘On this day’ snippets and musicians’ birthdays. My mantra is “if you want it and we’ve got it (in the computer, CD library or on my MP3 player) I’ll play it!”
How did you get into presenting?
MANY years ago I had a boyfriend in commercial radio and he started out in hospital radio. I joined Radio Catherine a station in my home town of Birkenhead, then moved to other stations as I moved jobs ending up as a Producer at North Staffordshire hospital radio. When I worked in London I didn’t have the time but I got back into broadcasting again in 2006 when I joined Rocket FM and Coastway.
Who/what are your biggest influence(s)?
My patient listeners! They choose the music most weeks so through them I get to hear tracks I haven’t heard for years or new music from artists and composers I wouldn’t normally listen to.
Name a particular piece of music that you love
This can change with my mood! One of my current favourites is the cover of Led Zeppelin’s ‘the Immigrant Song’ by Karen O. Mozart helps me concentrate when I’m writing and James Taylor’s ‘Shower the People You Love With Love’ reminds me to take care of those I care about.
What do you do when you are not broadcasting?
I’m a researcher at Brighton Business School
