Vicky Tremain

How would you describe your programme?

An eclectic mix of Jazz and Folk and everything on the peripheral. Mystic Rhythm Club has also become a platform for local musicians to share their music and influences with our listeners.

What made you want to join Coastway Hospital Radio For Brighton?

A desire to combine my love of music and radio with volunteering.

What do you like best about Coastway?

The fact that the wide variety of shows on offer for patients really reflects the diversity of our wonderful city. We are a lovely bunch too which makes it even better!

How did you get into presenting?

I started at Coastway by sitting in on Pete Sanders’ show on Sunday mornings as a guest for a few months, then I got my own show after some training. I listen to a lot of radio which I think helps me improve.

Who/what are your biggest influence(s)?

As a radio presenter my biggest influences are Fiona Talkington and the Late Junction team on Radio 3. I love how the music is always allowed to be the star on that programme. I also loved Adam and Joe on 6 music, their podcasts are magic.

What have been your biggest achievements?

 Getting my Music MA.

Name a key tune that you love or inspired you

Impossible question! Something by Animal Collective, Beirut, Polar Bear or Stravinsky. How’s that for vague…

What do you do when you are not broadcasting?

Make a lot of music with friends, teach, and write stories.
