What made you want to join Coastway Hospital Radio For Brighton?
My friend and fellow presenter Steve Hanmer had been involved with Coastway for a while and I used to, on occasion guest on his show when he first started, I thought it looked like so much fun that when I turned 18 and Tom suggested we did a show together I couldn’t resist.
What do you like best about Coastway?
Meeting new people seems like the obvious answer but it’s true. Everyone I’ve met seem s genuinely passionate about what they do and are all really nice people. That and the swanky techy desk.
How did you get into presenting?
Tom Kent: “Wanna do a radio show?.”
Myself: “Yes.”
Who/what are your biggest influence(s)?
In terms of radio stuffs the Adam and Joe podcast on BBC 6 music is one of the funniest shows I’ve heard, I feel that’s the sort of thing Tom and I are after. Influences in general…I’m really into the Beatles so they’re up there. I love what Alex Turner is up to and Submarine is a film everyone should check out, not just for the soundtrack. Also Ewan McGregor.
What have been your biggest achievements?
I’m 18! I haven’t really achieved anything huge. I’ve got 3 good A levels and completed Gold Duke of Edinburgh award, and survived 3 years of army cadets but I’m hoping to top all that.
Name a key tune that you love or inspired you
My mind just exploded with song titles. Cheers Coastway question writer. I’m gonna go with Life on Mars, it’s just an awesome song. Who puts a phone ringing at the end of a song? David Bowie, that’s who.
What do you do when you are not broadcasting?
When I’m not at college or waiting tables: I like to play guitar, read and listen to music. Yeah, I still buy CDs…. so… Tom still buys vinyls.
